JEDI

Justice, equity, diversity and inclusion is a core part of our existence.

They're the reason the studio exists. Here's what we commit to—and how you can hold us to it.

Why We Put This in Writing

Creative Attitude is a Black woman-owned strategic marketing studio in Jackson, Mississippi. Justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion are not a program we added to the business. They are the reason the business exists.

We built this studio because mission-driven organizations in the Deep South—especially those led by and serving Black communities—consistently get less strategic marketing support than commercial clients, and often get it without the cultural understanding required to do it well. Closing that gap is our work.

Writing it down matters anyway. A commitment that lives only in how we feel about ourselves cannot be checked by anyone. This statement is public so that clients, suppliers, community partners and anyone else can hold us to it.

What We Commit To

Creative Attitude commits to advancing justice, equity, diversity and inclusion across four areas of the business.

In our policies

We hold JEDI principles in the documents that actually govern the company — our Operating Agreement, our Purpose Statement and Theory of Change, our Client and Supply Chain Screening Policy, our Climate Action Plan, and our Grievance Procedure. Each of those documents is reviewed at least every 36 months, and JEDI alignment is part of that review. Any stakeholder who believes we have fallen short of this statement may raise it through our public Grievance Procedure without fear of retaliation.

In our operations

We direct our spending deliberately. We prioritize Black- and Brown-owned, woman-owned, B Corp-certified and Mississippi-based suppliers, and we report our supplier diversity annually. We are candid that our 2025 baseline for supplier spend directed to Black- and Brown-owned businesses was 0%, and we have set a public target of 10% by 2028. We build the Creative Collective — our network of trusted, vetted freelancers and contractors — with the same intent, and we are building toward a shared-ownership model so that the people doing the work have ownership, voice and a share of what they help create.

With our clients and audiences

We practice values-based communication. We center the agency of the people and organizations we write about rather than treating them as subjects of a story. We name a problem once and spend the rest of the space on what is being done about it. We never share someone’s story, image or data without clear, informed consent. We decline work that would require us to communicate in ways that demean or misrepresent a community, and our Client Screening Policy is the mechanism that lets us say no.

In our community

We mentor advertising and marketing students from HBCUs and emerging professionals from underrepresented backgrounds. We contribute pro bono and reduced-rate work to grassroots organizations advancing equity in our region. We publish thought leadership on social justice issues affecting marginalized communities in the Deep South, and we participate in local business and community development networks.

How We Hold Ourselves to It

The commitments above are measured, not just stated. The relevant targets sit in the KPI table of our Purpose Statement and Theory of Change — client mix, supplier spend, mentorship engagements, community investment, and published thought leadership — and progress against them is reviewed annually by the Managing Member and reported publicly.

Governance and Accountability

This JEDI commitment is approved by Creative Attitude’s highest governing body — the Managing Member, Brooke B. Williams — and accountability for upholding it sits with that body. The Managing Member reviews progress against these commitments annually, as reflected in the KPI table of our Purpose Statement and Theory of Change, and reports outcomes publicly.

Accessibility — A Commitment in Progress

We want to be straight about where we are not yet where we want to be. Digital accessibility is part of inclusion, and our website does not yet meet WCAG 2.1 AA conformance. We have completed an internal assessment and remediation plan, and we are treating full conformance as a long-term commitment rather than claiming something we have not yet earned. We will report progress in our annual impact reporting.
