Grey Matter Marketing

Social Media Strategy & LinkedIn Growth

Challenge

Grey Matter Marketing hired me in 2021 to create and implement a tailored social media strategy to increase their visibility and engagement within the Life Sciences industry. The goal was to connect with and engage CEOs and decision-makers in the Life Sciences sector, which posed a unique challenge in terms of selecting the right platforms and crafting targeted messaging.

My Approach

  1. Initial Strategy Development Across Multiple Platforms
The initial strategy was designed to increase Grey Matter Marketing’s online presence across multiple social media platforms: Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. The strategy included:
    • Content creation, including industry-relevant posts, thought leadership articles, and engaging visuals.
    • A content calendar for consistent posting across all platforms.
    • Engagement tactics such as responding to comments, initiating conversations, and sharing relevant industry news.
  2. Data-Driven Shift to LinkedIn
After analyzing audience insights and engagement metrics, I realized that the majority of Grey Matter Marketing’s target audience—CEOs and decision-makers in the Life Sciences sector—were predominantly active on LinkedIn.
Based on this insight, I pivoted the strategy to focus solely on LinkedIn, ensuring that all content and engagement tactics were tailored for this professional platform.
  3. LinkedIn-Exclusive Strategy
For LinkedIn, I developed a content strategy focused on:
    • Thought Leadership: Sharing expert insights, case studies, and industry news to position Grey Matter Marketing as an authority in the Life Sciences space.
    • Engagement: Developing strategies to engage with CEOs and decision-makers through comments, direct messages, and targeted connection requests.
    • Visual Content: Creating visually appealing posts, infographics, and articles to increase visibility and engagement.
    • Targeted Messaging: Tailoring posts to directly address the needs and pain points of Life Sciences CEOs, using language that resonated with their professional challenges.

4. Ongoing Management & Optimization
I was responsible for the ongoing management of the LinkedIn account, ensuring consistent posting, responding to comments, and measuring the effectiveness of the content through analytics. I continuously adjusted the strategy based on performance metrics, including engagement rates, follower growth, and audience feedback..

Impact & Results

    • 50% LinkedIn Growth in 2021: My targeted LinkedIn strategy resulted in a 50% increase in LinkedIn followers for Grey Matter Marketing in 2021, directly contributing to the company’s visibility among Life Sciences CEOs.

    • Sustained Growth Year-over-Year: The growth was maintained year-over-year, with continued improvements in follower engagement, visibility, and connections within the Life Sciences sector.

    • Stronger Brand Authority: Grey Matter Marketing became recognized as a credible source of thought leadership in the Life Sciences industry, leading to increased inquiries and partnerships with CEOs and decision-makers.
